Our Partners & Compliance Network

Connecting Europe Express is an independent editorial publication, but no publication operates in a vacuum. Our coverage of cross-border tourism, transport infrastructure, and the European entertainment industry draws on the work of a wide network of associations, regulators, media partners, and player-protection charities. This page sets out the organisations whose data, guidance, and standards we most regularly reference — and, where appropriate, partner with directly.

We do not accept editorial direction or funding from any of the bodies listed below. References to their work are made under standard editorial practice, and any formal partnership is clearly indicated.

Tourism & Transport Associations

Our European Travel Routes coverage is built on data and policy guidance from the continent’s main transport bodies. The associations below appear most often in our reporting because they set the standards, publish the statistics, or represent the passengers whose experience we cover:

  • Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER) — Brussels-based association of Europe’s main rail undertakings; a core reference for cross-border ticketing and night-train policy.
  • International Union of Railways (UIC) — Global rail standards body whose European section publishes much of the data behind our route-level analysis.
  • European Travel Commission (ETC) — The umbrella organisation for Europe’s national tourist boards, and a key source for cross-border tourism statistics.
  • European Rail Passengers (ERP) — Independent advocacy group focused on passenger rights across the EU and the UK.
  • ABTA — The Travel Association — Long-standing UK trade body for travel agents and tour operators; relevant for our post-Brexit consumer-rights coverage.
  • UIC European Year of Rail legacy projects — The continuing initiatives spun out of the original Connecting Europe Express train tour, several of which we cover editorially.

Media Partners

Connecting Europe Express works alongside a small group of independent media outlets covering European travel, infrastructure, and consumer affairs. These partnerships take the form of editorial syndication, joint research, and event collaboration:

  • Independent European travel and rail-industry trade press, where our analysis is occasionally republished or referenced.
  • UK consumer-affairs and personal-finance publications, with whom we collaborate on cross-border consumer-rights reporting.
  • Specialist iGaming industry publications, used as a source for market data on operator licensing, compliance, and player-protection trends.

A full list of active media partners is maintained internally and updated each editorial year. Partnership of this kind does not give a media outlet any influence over our coverage, and references in our articles to third-party publications are made on the same editorial basis as references to any other source.

Responsible Gambling Organisations

Because part of our coverage focuses on the regulated entertainment industry — including online gaming — we work closely with, and direct readers to, the leading player-protection organisations in the UK and across Europe. The table below summarises the bodies most often referenced in our articles, all of which are independent of operators, free to use, and easy to reach without an intermediary:

Organisation Region What they provide
BeGambleAware UK Independent charity offering information and free, confidential treatment referrals
GamCare UK National helpline, live chat, online forum, and structured support programmes
Gamblers Anonymous UK & EU Peer-support meetings in person and online
Gambling Therapy International Free online support and counselling in multiple languages
GamStop UK The national self-exclusion scheme covering all UKGC-licensed operators
Crucial Compliance Industry Compliance and player-protection technology provider whose published guidance and research we reference in our coverage of operator standards
EUCG — European Casino Association EU Industry-level body whose responsible-gambling and AML standards are referenced in our editorial methodology

Where any of these organisations is mentioned in an article, we link directly to their website so readers can verify the information and reach support without an intermediary. We do not receive payment for these references.

How partnerships work at Connecting Europe Express

Three principles govern every partnership listed on this page. We retain full editorial independence and do not give any partner the right to approve or veto coverage. We disclose any formal partnership clearly at the relevant point in the article, not only on this page. And we never accept funding or partnership from any organisation in exchange for favourable coverage of an operator, destination, or service.

If your organisation works in European tourism, transport infrastructure, consumer protection, or responsible gambling and would like to discuss a collaboration, please contact us at [email protected].
